ABOUT THE BOOK
“Adassa’s fans will relish reading about the messiness and miracles in her musical life.” —Booklist
Adassa—Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe recipient, platinum-selling artist, and the voice of Dolores Madrigal in Encanto—shares her resilient and inspiring journey through music, motherhood, faith, and hardship.
Born to immigrant Colombian parents with big dreams in their hearts but little in their pockets, Adassa learned early that making it as an artist wasn’t just about talent—it was about grit, faith, and a whole lot of improvising. Together with Gabriel Candiani, her husband and music director, Adassa paid her dues on stages in Texas and Mexico before landing her first solo record deal. That deal catapulted her into performing alongside and collaborating with musical legends, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, Snoop Dogg, Flo Rida, Ciara, Missy Elliott, Luis Fonsi, Don Omar, Megan Thee Stallion, and Becky G. From the electrifying energy of the Rose Bowl to the legendary Madison Square Garden, she was living the dream.
Until life took a detour.
When COVID left her paralyzed from the neck down, Adassa faced her greatest challenge. Unable to care for herself, let alone sing, she felt like everything was slipping away. But in those darkest moments, Gabriel and their 7 children became her strength. Their family clung to faith, laughter, and the unshakable belief that God was still directing their lives.
What followed was proof that God’s timing is always perfect. From relearning patience and resilience to performing live with the Encanto cast at the Oscars and sharing her voice on stages across the United States, Mexico, and Taiwan, Adassa’s journey has been anything but predictable.
With unexpected messes, undeniable miracles, and inspirational music (QR codes inside link to 12 original songs written specifically for the book), Love Keeps Showing Up is a story of resilience, divine timing, and how love, family, and faith can carry us through life’s hardest seasons. Adassa’s story serves as a heartfelt reminder that even when life feels out of tune, faith and family keep us singing.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Adassa is a Golden Globe, Oscar, and Grammy-winning artist, best known as the voice of Dolores in Disney’s Encanto and as a featured vocalist on the Billboard #1 hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” She’s performed at the Grammys, Oscars, American Music Awards, and American Idol, regularly headlines Disney concerts worldwide and is currently a featured guest artist on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s world tour (2024–2026). As the global face of Disney’s Encanto campaign, Adassa led over 100 international press junkets, and appeared monthly as a headlining guest at Comicons across the U.S., performing for thousands of Disney superfans.
With a four-octave vocal range and writing credits in the sync catalogs of Warner, Universal, and SONY, Adassa brings both polish and purpose to the mic. She’s now stepping into country music with a sound that’s genre-bending, rhythm-forward, and emotionally rooted—in line with the evolving country landscape led by artists like Walker Hayes, Shaboozey, and Post Malone.
Her brand partnerships span Pepsi, McDonald’s, Toyota, LEGO, and Secret, and she recently voiced a guest role in the animated series The Tuttle Twins. A wife, mother of 7, and creative partner to producer Gabriel Candiani, Adassa’s work is rooted in authenticity, strength, and redemption. That is never more clear than in her memoir.
